JULIE BEDFORD. “RALLY O” This is a fun introduction to this new exciting sport and all students will have the opportunity to train each of the exercises and complete a full course. It is suitable for all types of dogs and for all levels of training, the lower level is done on leash, and you can talk to and encourage your dog whilst engaged in simple sits, down, circles and right and left turns etc. 2. JUNE 5th/6th. SHEILA BAILEY. “BEHAVIOUR/INSTRUCTORS’ Course Part One” Primarily for those wanting to instruct pet dog owners, but also for owners wanting to improve their handling and overall knowledge of dogs & their behaviour. All training based on behavioural/ positive reinforcement methods. Report in “Kennel Gazette”. 3. JUNE19th/ 20th. SHEILA BAILEY ”AN INTRODUCTION TO WORKING TRIALS.” For complete beginners who would like to have more fun by widening their and their dog’s horizon with the more creative type of work. Includes control, agility, retrieve and elementary search. Covers the new Introductory Stake and the C.D.Stake. Lays foundation for competing at a later date if you get ‘hooked’! Report in DTW 4. JULY 3rd/4th. SHEILA BAILEY. “HOW TO HAVE A HAPPY WELL BEHAVED DOG”. At last a course especially for the pet owner, who would like to have a dog who is easy to live with, enjoys life to the full, has fun with his owner and where the relationship is based on trust and mutual respect. 5. JULY 17th/18th. SHEILA BAILEY. “BEHAVIOUR/INSTRUCTORS’ COURSE Part Two” For students who have attended Part One of the Behavior/Instructors’ Course. Classical and operant conditioning, shaping, chaining, timing, puppy development, breed specific behaviour & more advanced training. 6. JULY 31st./Aug.1st. SHEILA BAILEY. “TRACKING AND NOSEWORK FOR FUN” All types and sizes of dogs can track. Let your dog show you how clever he is! Give yourself the thrill of following a dog who is tracking! Baffle your neighbours with clever nosework demonstrations! 7 AUGUST 14th/15th. SHEILA BAILEY. “WORKING TRIALS FOR THE BEGINNER U.D.” Although a follow-on from the introductory weekend, this course is complete in itself and suitable for both the beginner, those already taking part in Working Trials, or for those who are having problems. Report in DTW 8 SEPTEMBER 18th/19th. “BEHAVIOUR/INSTRUCTORS’ COURSE Part Three” For students who have attended Parts One and Two of this Course. Covers problem dogs, problem owners and other problems likely to be encountered in a pet dog training class – as well as legal and ethical obligations and a review of training equipment. All courses support the Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme. The Centre is open throughout the year to help with behavioural problems as well as training at all levels.
