HEELWORK-TO-MUSIC WORKSHOP with Christina Oxtoby BMus(Hons) Suitable for complete beginners to starters competition standard covering amongst other things, moves, motivation and music. Christina is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (00998) a HTM instructor, musician and founder of ICC dog training. Cost - £50 per handler place for 2 days, £20 per spectator place for 2 days
May Saturday 31st & Sunday 1st June, 10.00am-5.00pm. APPLIED LEARNING THEORY with Elizabeth Kershaw. Elizabeth is one of the best known clicker trainers in the country and regularly writes for Your Dog magazine. She is also a member of the UK Registry of Canine Behaviourists. This will be a weekend of understanding the theory behind how dogs learn with a mixture of theoretical learning and interesting practical work with dogs. Cost - £60 per handler for 2 days, £40 per spectator place for 2 days.
June Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th, 10.00am-5.00pm UNDERSTANDING, HANDLING AND REDUCING AGGRESSION IN DOGS with Dr Anne McBride PhD, one of the most highly qualified animal behaviourists in the country. Anne is a member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors, an honorary member of the UK Registry of Canine Behaviourists and is course director for the Postgraduate Diploma / MSc in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling at Southampton University having been a practising animal behaviour therapist for over 20 years. Cost - £60 for the 2 days.
August Saturday 9th, 10.00am-4.30pm. 101 (well, nearly!) GAMES TO PLAY WITH YOUR DOG / CLASS OF DOGS, WORKSHOP with Christina Oxtoby and the ICC Team. Dog owners come and have fun, dog trainers come and pinch ideas! Cost - £20 per handler, £10 per spectator.
October Saturday 4th, 9.30am-5.00pm. HEELWORK-TO-MUSIC / CANINE FREESTYLE MASTERCLASS with Attila Szkukalek. Handler places are restricted to those dogs currently competing at intermediate level and above so that Attila can focus on more advanced moves including distance work. The day should be educational to handlers working at all levels with the opportunity to learn at lot from watching Attila work with other dogs. Cost - £30 per handler, £20 per spectator.
October Saturday 18th, 10.00am-4.30pm, AGILITY WORKSHOP, with experienced agility handler and instructor Bob Sharpe. Max. 8 handlers per session (dogs will work either morning for beginners or afternoon for more advanced dogs.) Workshop will cover training and handling techniques. Cost - £20 per handler, £10 per spectator.
October Saturday 25th. CASE STUDIES IN AGGRESSION WORKSHOP, with Paddy Driscoll, looking at real case studies of aggression in dogs (both towards people and other dogs.). Paddy is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (00246) and lecturer in Canine Behaviour Counselling at Bishop Burton College.
November Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd 9.30am-5.30pm. ATTITUDE, PRECISION AND STYLE IN THE COMPETITION DOG WORKSHOP with Joanna Hill. Dogs who train with Jo are often recognised by their keen, attentive attitude, and stylish work in competition (and often for getting to the top of their field!) Find out how on this workshop. Although Jo specialises in obedience, this workshop is suitable for dogs competing or about to compete in Obedience, Heelwork-to-Music and Working trials. Jo is also widely recognised as one of the most original, talented and innovative clicker trainers in the country. Cost - £60 per handler for 2 days, £30 per spectator.
November Saturday 29th, 10.00am-4.30pm UNDERSTANDING AND HANDLING BEHAVIOURAL PROBLEMS IN THE RESCUE DOG, WORKSHOP with Al Matherne. Al is a member of and assessor for the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (00408) and the UK Registry of Canine Behaviourists and has MANY rescued dogs as part of his family! Cost - £50 for the weekend or £25 per day. (Normal discounts apply, also 25% discount for those working for a dog rescue charity - proof needed.) Sunday 30th, 10.00am-4.30pm. SQUARE PEGS IN ROUND HOLES? A workshop with Paddy Driscoll – do you despair of matching a dog with the right owner sometimes? Do some dogs get returned too often? This workshop attempts to address some of the issues around assessing dogs and how to match them with new owners and the many pitfalls of trying to make the perfect partnership. Covers problem dogs, problem owners and other problems likely to be encountered in a pet dog training class – as well as legal and ethical obligations and a review of training equipment.
